  • Music is meant to speak to the soul, to transport the listener to another space on a different plane of understanding. If the artist does her job, the listener is taken to a place deep inside the realm of emotional connectivity; I'm supposed to feel the words you sing, experience the story you tell through the melody of your voice. Listening to you took me somewhere deep tonight; after a couple of careful playbacks I had to write to you, if not for any other reason than to tell you that tonight, your music made me smile. And I haven't smiled in a long time. It's refreshing to hear something, someone different. Thank you, Kiyomi.

A Song for Sandy Hook Elementary

By kiyomi on Sat, 22 Dec 2012 23:10:23

I wanted to write because we were recently so very devastated by what took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School. I know that i had a very hard time dealing with and processing it when i found out. I was in tears for a few days after it happened. It's so hard to understand why something like this could happen. I have two 6 year old nephews and cannot comprehend what the families must be going through. All i could think about was how we could comfort them. Words couldn't express alone, so I wrote a song. I only hope that it can possibly bring healing to people.
